Sensex, Nifty end at record closing highs; PSU banks gain big



The week has started on a strong note for the market, with the Sensex and Nifty ending at record closing high, supported by PSU banks as well as energy stocks.

The Sensex was up 157.55 points at 37494.40, and the Nifty was up 41.10 points at 11319.50.

The market breadth was on advancing side, about 1617 shares have advanced, 1026 shares declined, and 188 shares are unchanged.

Smallcap index outperformed the major indices with 0.5 percent gain.

Reliance Industries, TCS, ICICI Bank, HUL and Maruti Suzuki are the positive contributors to the Sensex.

Results to be announced tomorrow :- Ajanta pharma, asian hotels, bank of india, bharat elec, blue dart, castrol, dabur india, dcm shriram, gsfc, golden legend, ig petro, iifl, ion exchange, jaypee infra, jk paper, kiocl, lg balakrishnan, mahanagar gas, power grid corp, raymond, supreme ind, tata motors, tech m, upl, v guard, vedanta.

Escorts Q1 profit jumps 93% to Rs 121 cr led by growth across segments.

GIC Re Q1 net profit up 98% to Rs 771 crore.

Eye on RBI policy meet this week.

The crucial resistance for Nifty spot is now seen at 11400 and above this 11550 Support for the immediate term is now placed at 11180 next support will be 11090.
