Asian markets trade mixed on Monday

The Nikkei 225 advanced 0.53%, the Topix rose 0.77%, while ASX 200 gained 0.38%.

Asian stock markets were trading slightly higher on Monday amid strong US economic data and positive comments out of Washington on the trade talks. Stock markets in China and South Korea are closed today due to holidays.

The Nikkei 225 advanced 0.53%, the Topix rose 0.77%, while ASX 200 gained 0.38%.

Shares of Sony dropped 8% after the company cut its revenue outlook for the fiscal year, on the back of weaker-than-expected sales of cameras and smartphones.

On Friday, US stocks ended with a small gain as the jobs reading and manufacturing PMI data overshadowed a disappointing sales forecast from Amazon.

The Japanese yen traded at 109.48 against the dollar after touching highs below 108.8 in the previous trading week.

On Thursday, the Bank of England sets interest rates and updates its economic forecasts.
