Nifty reclaims 11,000 mark; DHFL stock surges 15%

Equity benchmark indices opened higher for the third consecutive session, with the Nifty reclaiming the 11,000 mark in early trade.

The Sensex gained 139 points to 36,581, while the Nifty was up 45 points to 11,033. The market breadth was positive with 1,274 shares advancing, 307 shares declining, and 466 remaining unchanged.

The Indian rupee opened lower on Wednesday tracking losses in its Asian peers on the back of dollar strength. The home currency depreciated as much as 0.16% to 70.6 against the greenback.

Shares of DHFL jumped 16% on the NSE. The company said in the filing that the company has not promoted any of the 26 shell companies, which alleged to have siphoned off about Rs35,000cr of the company by investigative news portal Cobrapost.

Shares of Quick Heal Technologies gained 4.5% after the board approved buyback of equity shares.

Endurance Tech stock’s dropped 8.5% on the BSE. The company’s promoter plans to sell 63.6 lakh equity shares or 4.52% equity with greenshoe option of additional 41.9 lakh equity shares or 2.98% equity to non-retail investors on March 6 and retail investors on March 7.

The BSE MidCap index was trading 135 points higher at 14,929.46, and BSE SmallCap index was trading 1.13% higher at 14,580.

HPCL, Adani Ports, Indiabulls HF, and ITC are trading higher, while Sun Pharma, Asian Paints, and Bajaj Auto are trading lower on the NSE.

Volatility index India VIX was up 1.05% at 16.44.

The most active stocks are ITC, ICICI Bank, Apollo Hospital, and Reliance Industries.
