Sensex, Nifty open flat; Tech Mahindra, Titan in focus

Equity benchmark indices opened on a flat note even as Asian markets rose on increasing signs of hope between the US and China. Global cues, another set of earnings results and services PMI data for October will be in focus today.

Tech Mahindra, Titan, Dabur and Punjab National Bank are among the prominent companies that will unveil their quarterly earnings results today.

The Sensex is down 29 points at 40,273, and the Nifty down 11 points at 11,942. About 798 shares have advanced, 714 shares declined, and 580 shares are unchanged.

Yes Bank, Bajaj Finance, Tata Motors and HDFC among top contributors on the Nifty, while losers include Sun Pharma, Infosys, and IOC.

The India VIX is also up by 1.72% at 16.20.

Ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala on Monday bought nearly 1.3cr shares of Yes Bank, amounting to 0.5% stake of the private lender, for around Rs87cr through open market transactions. The stock price of Yes Bank jumped over 7% on the NSE.

Meanwhile, oil prices held firm after hitting their highest levels since late September on Monday. Brent Crude Futures was trading near $62 per barrel mark in the early trade.
