Nifty reclaims 10,700 mark; Tata Motors among top gainers

On the sectoral front, automobiles, banks, and infrastructure stocks are trading in the green, while the IT index is in the negative zone.

Equity benchmark indices opened higher on Friday, with the Nifty trading above 10,700.

The Sensex was up 116 points at 35,630, while the Nifty rose 37 points at 10,709. The market breadth was positive with 985 shares advancing, 505 shares declining, and 539 remaining unchanged.

On the sectoral front, automobiles, banks, and infrastructure stocks are trading in the green, while the IT index is in the negative zone.

The rupee opened higher by 24 paise at 69.96/$ amid mixed Asian cues and a decline in crude oil prices.

Shares of GM Breweries are down over 10% after the company released its Q3 results.

Tata Motors gained 3.5% after posting 24% higher JLR US sales for the month of December, as per media reports.

Tata Motors, Infratel, Indiabulls HF, Bharti Airtel, and NTPC were the top gainers on the Nifty50, while ICICI Bank, HCL Tech, TCS, RIL, and Cipla were trading in the red.

Volatility index India VIX is down 2.44% to 16.38.

The most active stocks were RIL, Eicher, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, and Indiabulls HF.
