Sensex, Nifty trade higher; Yes Bank, Tata Motors lead

Equity benchmark indices opened higher tracking global cues. Yes, Bank, Tata Motors, Vedanta, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, and IndusInd Bank are trading higher on the Nifty50.

The Sensex traded 98.26 points higher at 37,243, while the broader Nifty was up 17 points at 11,020. About 1105 shares have advanced, 412 shares declined, and 540 shares are unchanged.

On the sectoral front, buying is seen in the metal, auto, pharma, bank, and infra, while energy and IT sectors are marginally lower.

The Indian rupee opened lower by 14 paise at 71.84 per dollar vs. Monday's close 71.70/$.

Shares of ICICI Lombard fell 4% after ~1.23 crore shares or 2.7% equity of the company changed hands in large trade.

Shares of Indiabulls Real Estate are trading higher by 2.6% in opening trade on the NSE after the company announced late Tuesday that it has finalized the strategic sale of several assets to reduce its debt.

Meanwhile, Asian stock markets held firm and bond yields rose as hopes of diminishing US-China tensions and reduced risk of no-deal Brexit prompted investors to take profit in risk-off trade ahead of key central bank policy meetings.
